This workshop is designed for film students preparing intermediate or diploma-level projects, whether short films or feature-length fiction or documentary productions. Drawing inspiration from the practices of Jean-Luc Godard, the course explores the theoretical and technical aspects of sound recording for film. Participants will gain a working understanding of industry-standard equipment for sound recording, including digital recorders and various types of microphones. The course will also address workflows, sound library creation, and practical techniques to ensure that soundtracks can complement or challenge the visual elements of a film.
Prerequisites
- No prior knowledge required; open to students working on diploma-level projects or equivalent
- All recording equipment provided (digital recorders, microphones)

- Master the use of digital sound recording equipment.
- Understand the creative potential of sound as a narrative tool in film.
- Experiment with the juxtaposition of sound and image in film production.
