Project Context
Graduation Project

A series of audiovisual performances featuring up to four mechanical celli, tensioned steel wires bowed by motor-driven mechanisms that translate rotary motion into a slow back-and-forth movement. The bowing speed is controlled via Arduino, shaping the instrument’s dynamic response. Vibrations are captured with custom-built contact microphones and preamplifiers, then spatialized through an ambisonic setup in Reaper. The piece explores the fragile balance between control and collapse, performer and machine, as mechanical instruments evolve into autonomous sonic agents.

Technical Setup

Motorized bows, metal strings, pickup microphones, multichannel spatialization, live performance
